परिणी

परि-णी   (√ नी) P.Ā.-णयति, °ते (pf.Ā.-णिन्ये, [Daś.] ; -णयाम् आस, [MBh.] ; 3. pl.aor.-अनेषत, [RV.] ; ind.p.-णीय, [Kum.] ),
to lead or bear or carry about or round, [RV.] &c. &c., (esp.) to lead a bride and bridegroom round the sacrificial fire (with 2 acc.)
to marry (said of a bridegroom), [MBh.] ; [Kāv.] &c.;
to lead forward to, put or place anywhere (अग्रम्, at the head), [Bṛ.] ;
to carry away, [RV.] ;
to trace out, discover, investigate, [Mn.] ; [MBh.] ;
(with अन्यथा) to explain otherwise, [Śaṃk.] :
Caus.-णाययति, to pass or spend (time), [MBh.] ;
(also णापयति), to cause a man to marry a woman (acc.), [Pañcad.]

To lead or carry round (the fire); तौ दम्पती त्रिः परिणीय वह्निम् (पुरोधाः) [Ku.7.8;] अग्निं पर्यणयं च यत् [Rām.]
To marry, espouse; परिणेष्यति पार्वतीं यदा तपसा तत्प्रवणीकृतो हरः [Ku.4.42.]
To ascertain, investigate; तेषां वृत्तं परिणयेत् सम्यग् राष्ट्रेषु तच्चरैः [Ms.7.122.]
To lead forward. -Caus. To pass, spend (time).
परिणी [pariṇī]   (= पतिः ?) चिरं परिण्या परिशीलिताप्यसौ, जहाति न ह्रीभरमस्य केलिषु [Rām. Ch.2.56.]
