ऊष्मन्

ऊष्मन्  m. m. (√ उष्cf.उष्मन्), heat, glow, ardour, hot vapour, steam, vapour, [AV. vi, 18, 3] ; [VS.] ; [ŚBr.] ; KātyŚr.; [BhP.] (also figuratively said of passion or of money &c.)
the hot season, [L.]
ह्   (in Gr.) N. applied to certain sounds (viz. the three sibilants, , विसर्ग, जिह्वामूलीय, उपध्मानीय, and अनुस्वार), [RPrāt. 11, &c.] ; [APrāt.] ; [VPrāt.] ; [Kāś.] &c. (the, [TPrāt.] omits विसर्ग and अनुस्वार).

ऊष्मन्     

ऊष्मन् [ūṣman]  m. m.
Heat, warmth.
The hot season, summer.
Steam, vapour, exhalation.
Ardour, passion, violence.
(In gram.) The sounds श्, ष्, स् and ह्; applied also to ष्क्, ष्प्, अं and अः. -Comp.
-अन्त   ending in an Ūṣman.
-अन्तस्थाः   (m. pl.) the sounds called Ūṣman and semivowels.
-उपगमः   approach of summer.
-पः a.  a. drinking the steam of hot food; [Mb.12.284.8.]
(पः) fire; गुणारणिच्छन्न- चिदुष्मपाय [Bhāg.8.3.16.]
a class of manes (pl.). [Bg.11.22;] अत्रोष्मपाणां देवानां निवासः श्रुयते द्विज [Mb.5.19.] 2. ('ऊष्मपाणां उष्णान्नभोजिनाम्' इति भाष्यकारः.)
