शालिन् n.  एक आचार्य, जो वायु के अनुसार व्यास की यजुःशिष्यपरंपरा में से याज्ञवल्क्य का वाजसनेय शिष्य था ।

शालिन् [śālin] a.  a. (-नी f.) (usually at the end of comp.)
Endowed with, possessed of, possessing, shining or resplendent with; अलघूपलपङ्क्तिशालिनीः परितो रुद्धनिरन्तराम्बराः [Śi.16.76;] [Ki.2.31;7.28,55;8.17;] विलासिनीनां स्तनशालिनीनामलंक्रियन्ते स्तनमण्डलानि [Ṛs.4.2.]

Well-behaved; दयालुः शालिनीमाह शुक्लाभिव्याहृतं स्मरन् [Bhāg.3.24.1.]

1. Belonging to a house, domestic, &c. 2. A mistress of the house.
3. Name of a metre.
4. Possessing, having.
5. Shining or resplendent with, (in the latter two senses when at the end of a compound.)
E. शाल a house, and इनि aff.; in the fourth form it is the same as शील; the being chang- ed to when used in composition.
