{ viviṁśati }

VIVIṀŚATI   A son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra. The following information about him is given in [Mahābhārata] .
(i) This prince was present at the Svayaṁvara marriage of Draupadī.
(ii) He was caught hold of and bound by the Gandharvas in Dvaitavana (a forest). (See under Ghoṣayātrā).
(iii) In the battle between the Virāṭas and the Kauravas following the stealing of cows, this Viviṁśati, was defeated by Arjuna. He ran away from the battle-field. [M.B. Virāṭa Parva, Chapter 61, Stanza 43] .
(iv) In the battle of Bhārata, Viviṁśati confronted Bhīmasena and Sutasoma and was killed. [M.B. Droṇa Parva, Chapter 25, Stanza 93] .

विविंशति n.  (सो. कुरु.) धृतराष्ट्र का एक महारथी पुत्र। यह द्रौपदी स्वयंवर में उपस्थित था [म. आ. १७७.1] । दुर्योधन के द्वारा विराट की गोशाला पर किये गये आक्रमण में भी यह उपस्थित था [म. भी. ३३.३] । भारतीय युद्ध में यह भीम के द्वारा मारा गया।
विविंशति II. n.  एक राजा, जो चाक्षुष राजा का पुत्र, एवं रंभ राजा का पिता था [भा. ९.२.२४-२५] ।
