vu & वू These combinations of व occur initially to no Maráṭhí word. A few indeed will be met with in writings, and several will be heard in the streets; but the orthography and the pronunciation are alike disapproved. They all arise, by vitious pronunciation, from उ & ऊ, and thus they correspond, although inversely, with the well-known cacoëpy of oman for woman, ood for wood &c. For all, wherever seen or heard, turn to उ & ऊ.
