उषस् [uṣas]  f. f.
   dawn, morning; मधु नक्तमुतोषसः Bṛi. Up. प्रदीपार्चिरिवोषसि [R.12.1;] उषसि उत्थाय rising at day-break.
   morning light; cf. aurora; (personified as the daughter of heaven and sister of the Ādityas).
   The deity that presides over the morning and evening twilights (used in dual); उषसौ or उषासौ.
   The outer passage of the ear.
   The malaya range.
   evening.-सी The end of the day, evening twilight. -Comp.

-कलः   A cock.
-पतिः   Aniruddha.-बुध् a. awakening with the morning light, early awaked.
