A stool, a low chair or seat. 2 The seat of the religious student, made of the grass कुश. 3 पीठं, in the sense of Seat or spot of eminent residence or abiding, forms compounds such as गुरुपीठ, विद्यापीठ, राजपीठ. 4 also पीठस्थान n A place where a limb of Párvatí is supposed to have fallen when her dead body was cut to pieces by the चक्र of विष्णु.
