NYAGRODHA   A son of Ugrasena. When Kṛṣṇa killed Kaṁsa Nyagrodha fought with Kṛṣṇa and others and was killed by the blow of Balabhadra's shield. [Bhāgavata] .

न्यग्—रोध  m.  m. (√ रुध् = रुह्), ‘ growing downwards’ the banyan or indian fig- tree, Ficus Indica ( it belongs to the क्षीर-वृक्षस् q.v.; fibres descend from its branches to the earth and there take root and form new stems), [AV.] &c. &c.

न्यग्रोधः [nyagrōdhḥ]   1 The ( indian) fig tree; जटाः कृत्वा गमिष्यामि न्यग्रोधक्षीरमानय [Rām.2.52.68.]

   An epithet of Viṣṇu.
- धी (-धिका)  N. N. of a plant ( mar. उंदीरकानी). -Comp.
-परिमण्डलः   a man being a fathom in circumference; ( thus described: महा- धनुर्धराश्चैव त्रेतायां चक्रवर्तिनः । सर्वलक्षणसंपन्ना न्यग्रोधपरिमण्डलाः ॥).-परिमण्डला an excellent woman; ( she is thus described: स्तनौ सुकठिनौ यस्या नितम्बे च विशालता । मध्ये क्षीणा भवेद्या सा न्यग्रोधपरिमण्डला (Śabdak); दूर्वाकाण्डमिव श्यामा न्यग्रोधपरिमण्डला [Bk.5.18.]
