वी-रुध्  m.  f. (once in [MBh.] m.; fr. 3. वि + √ 1. रुध् = रुह् cf. वि-स्रुह्) a plant, herb ( esp. a creeping plant or a low shrub), [RV.] &c. &c. ( वीरु॑धाम् प॑तिः, ‘lord of plants’, in [RV.] applied to सोम, in [MBh.] to the moon)

Shabda-Sagara

वीरुध्  f.  ( -रुद् or रुत्)
1. A creeper or spreading creeper.
2. A branch and shoot.
3. A plant which grows after cutting.
4. A bower.
E. वि before रुध् to impede, aff. क्विप्, and the vowel of the prefix made long; also टाप् being added, वीरुधा f. (-धा) .
