कौट [kauṭa] a.  a. (-टी f.) [कूट-अञ्]
Living in one's own house; hence, independent, free.
Domestic, homely, home-bred.
Fraudulent, dishonest.
Snared.
टः Fraud, falsehood.
Giving false evidence.
A variety of gems; [Kau.A.2.11.] -Comp.
-जः   the Kutaja tree.
-तक्षः   (opp. ग्रामतक्षः) an independent carpenter, one who works at home on his own account and not for the village.
-साक्षिन्  m. m. a false witness.
-साक्ष्यम्   false evidence, perjury; [Ms.8.117,122-23;11.56.]
