To tear and pull asunder; to toss or stir about violently, hurriedly, wildly, disorderingly; to mangle, lacerate, tear and strew about, by picking, pecking, rudely scratching &c. Note. This verb and the verb विसकटणें have doubtless but one origin, and one of the two has with equal certainty arisen out of the other, through the interchangeableness of the letters च & स; still these two are not, in the popular apprehension and use, altogether one. Whilst the discomposing action expressed by this verb is invariably viewed as violent and as detrimental to the subject of it, the action expressed by the other verb may be viewed simply as a scattering or displacing, whether with injurious effect upon the subject of it, or without such effect and with a specific and sufficient purpose. 2 Often used in the senses of उचकटणें, where see at large.
