To give way and tumble in or down suddenly and soundingly--a wall, bank, raised mass, side of a well &c. 2 To fall to pieces--a machine or compages gen. 3 To dash down violently--rain: to fall profusely and precipitately--fruits, flowers &c. in a tempest: to be confounded, disconcerted, marred, blasted, dished--a project, scheme, counsel. NOTE. The word will be used also transitively in all the above applications. In sense it agrees with कोसळणें, but it is more emphatic and better expressive of the suddenness and noisiness or the utterness of the fall or ruin.
