तर्कु

तर्कु  mn. mn. ([L.] ; √ 3.कृत्, [Nir. ii, 1, but] cf.निष्-टर्क्य॑, ἄτρακτος & torqueo &c. s.v.तर्क्) a spindle, [PārGṛ. i, 15/16.]

तर्कु     

तर्कुः [tarkuḥ]   -m., f. A spindle, an iron pin upon which cotton is first drawn out; तर्कुः कर्तनसाधनम्. -Comp.
-पिण्डः, -पीठी, पीठः, -पाठी   a ball at the lower end of a spindle.
-लासकः   a concave shell or saucer serving to hold the lower end of a spindle.
-शाणः   a Whetstone for sharpening spindles. तर्कुटम् (-टी) Cutting; L. D. B.

तर्कु

तर्कु  f.  (-र्कुः) A spindle, an iron pin upon which the cotton is first drawn out; it also serves as the distaff, the cotton being next transferred from it to the wheel.
