गीष्पति  m.  (-तिः)
1. A name of VRIHASPATI, regent of JUPITER and preceptor of the gods.
2. A Pandit or learned teacher.
E. गिर् speech, in the mominative case, गीः and पति master, Visarga becomes and is here changed irregularly to the compound however is sometimes written differently, thus गीःपति, गीर्पति or गीस्पति.
