given in selling certain articles, e. g. 1½ sher per maund of oil, of तूप, or of गूळ. कांटा is a deduction made, in favor of the अडत्या, from the आखें or half पल्ला, e. g. of 5 sher per आखें of तूप or of गूळ, 3½ sher per आखें of oil. In some parts कडता is an excess of 10½ sher per पल्ला of weight, and कांटा is a surplus of 2½ sher, total 13; which, added to 120, the nominal amount of a पल्ला, constitute a पक्का पल्ला. In yet other districts there are other differences of the quantities of both कडता & कांटा.
