(Actively used) Toiling, labouring, exerting oneself.
Eager, anxiously desirous; आयस्तः (संप्राप्तुम्) [Ki.7.32.]
-स्तम्   A great effort; न मे गर्वितमायस्तं सहिष्यति दुरात्मवान् [Rām.4.16.9.]
