The uttering, with grave and solemn intonation, of the words सुमुहूर्त्त सावधान at the moment of the completion of the मुहूर्त्त or auspicious period, and the removing, upon that utterance, of the अंतःपट between the bride and bridegroom; or the fixing, upon the subject of the thread-investiture, of the मुंज. The import of the words is Mind! take heed! the hour is come! 3 Hence the word is used for the Marriage-ceremony or Nuptials.
