वन्दिन्  mfn. mfn. praising, honouring (ifc.), [Kum.] (cf.1.बन्दिन्, ‘a praiser’, ‘bard’)

वन्दिन्     

वन्दिन् [vandin]  m. m. A panegyrist, bard, an encomiast, a herald; धर्मच्छेदात् पटुतरगिरो वन्दिनो नीलकण्ठाः [V.4.13;] (the bards form a distinct caste sprung from a Kṣatriya father and a Śūdra mother).
A captive, prisoner.

वन्दिन्  m.  (-न्दी)
1. A panegyrist, a bard, a herald, a servant whose duty it is to proclaim the titles of a great man as he passes along; or a poet, who sings the praises of a prince in his presence, or accompanies an army, to chaunt martial songs: considered as one of a distinct tribe, he is the son of a Kshetriya by a Sūdra female.
2. A flatterer.
3. A prisoner.
