पुत्

पुत्   or पुद् (a word invented to explain पुत्र or पुत्-त्र See, [Mn. ix, 138, and] cf.[Nir. ii, 11] ), hell or a partic. hell (to which the childless are condemned), [MBh.] : [Kāv.] &c.

पुत्     

पुत् [put]  n. n. A particular division of a Hell or the infernal regions to which childless persons are said to be condemned; see पुत्र below. -Comp.
-नामन् a.  a. (hell) called पुत्; पुन्नाम्नो नरकाद् यस्मात् त्रायते पितरं सुतः । तस्मात् पुत्र इति प्रोक्तः ......Ms.9.138; [Mb.1.74.39.]
