होलाका  f. bf. (perhaps from a cry or shout or sound in singing), the spring festival at the approach of the vernal equinox (commonly called Hūlī or होली, and said to be dedicated to कृष्ण and the गोपीs; it is celebrated during the ten days preceding the full moon of the month फाल्गुन, when people sprinkle red powder in sport and light fires; in some parts of India the होली festival corresponds to or immediately precedes the दोला-यात्राq.v.), [RTL. 430.]
