संन्यस्

to lay aside, give up, abandon, resign (esp. the world i.e. become an ascetic or संन्यासिन्), [Mn.] ; [MBh. &c.]

संन्यस्

To place or put down, deposit.
To lay down or aside, give up, abandon, quit; तेन त्वया शस्त्रं न संन्यस्तव्यम् [V.5;] संन्यस्तशस्त्र [R.2.59;] सन्यस्ताभरणं गात्रम् [Me.95;] [Ku.7.67.]
To make or deliver over, entrust, commit to the care of; मयि सर्वाणि कर्माणि संन्यस्या- ध्यात्मचेतसा [Bg.3.3.]
To put together.
(Used intransitively) To resign the world, discard all worldly ties and attachments and become an anchorite; वेदान्तं विधिवच्छ्रुत्वा संन्यासेदनृणो द्विजः [Ms.7.94.] संदृश्य क्षणभङ्गुरं तद- खिलं धन्यस्तु संन्यस्यति [Bh.3.132.]
