अप-सलवि  n. ind. to the left (opposed to प्र-सलवि॑cf.अव-सलवि), [ŚBr.]

the space between the thumb and the forefinger (sacred to the Manes).

अपसलवि     

अपसलवि [apasalavi]   ind. [अप-सल् बा˚ अविं]
To the left (opp. प्रसलवि; ˚वि सृष्टया रज्ज्वा Kāty. (अप्रादक्षिण्येन).
(The space) Between the thumb and the forefinger, supposed to be sacred to the Manes, as water &c. in ceremonies like तर्पण is offered to them being poured down through that space; प्रदेशिन्यङ्गुष्ठयोरन्तरा अपसलवि अपसव्यं वा तेन पितृभ्यो निदधाति Śabdak.
